Subsequent to the Master Plan we completed for Saint Thomas the Apostle, we designed two additions to the church and rectory complex. A social gathering space and daily mass chapel are the heart of the project, forming a link between the rectory and church as well as providing a new entry space with a facade that complements the original church. Expanded church office functions are accommodated in a new business wing. The original church sanctuary has been renovated with new lighting, sound systems, choir platform, and a reconstruction of the narthex.
The parish was most concerned with blending the additions with the original buildings. The front of the chapel addition was configured to echo the form of the church, using the high quality original materials of the church: matching brick, limestone, slate shingle roofing, and oak wood windows.
The Daily Mass Chapel seats 80 with flexible seating. The Gathering Space provides a new entrance to the complex.
