Designed as a solution to an urban parking dilemma, this 300 car parking structure is part of the revitalization of Troy’s downtown business and entertainment district.
Faced with the construction challenge of an extremely tight site, bordered by a historic church and block of thriving businesses, the design utilizes a combination of steel structure and filigree concrete plank. The special-coated painted steel, interior galvanized steel members, and decks of thin filigree plank with concrete topping, enable this parking structure to more seamlessly weather the elements. The composition of these architectural elements also provides an aesthetic lightness, lending the garage a sensation of openness.
