We designed this new parking structure to accommodate the growing parking demand at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York. The structure consists of a ground level and four upper levels accommodating a total of 400 cars including required accessible spaces. The public street facade features brick pilasters and architectural concrete block walls designed to complement the material palette of the adjacent new emergency department addition as well as the hospital campus and neighboring context. The design includes a high efficiency machine room-less elevator that utilizes1/3 the energy use of a traditional hydraulic type. The project employed Building Information Modeling (BIM) and was budgeted at $6 million.
