The College Research Facility (CRF) at Albany Medical Center is a phased addition to the Lab Complex at Albany Medical College and supports ongoing research, teaching and testing activities of the institution. This multi-purpose facility was organized to be built as phased multiple projects including vertical expansion. Each project has advanced separately, as funding became available.
Phase I provided for the removal of an existing building, site work, and the design and erection of the shell of the lower level and first 2 stories of the CRF. Phase II provided for the fit-up of a 15,000 sf Clinical Simulation Center.
Phase III was the design and construction of 2 additional stories containing flexible lab spaces, funded by the National Institute of Health. This LEED Certified portion of the project follows the strict parameters set forth by the NIH Design Requirements Manuals. Each of the 15,000sf floors contains 2 large labs with fixed benches as well as "flex lab" modules for fume hoods and other equipment. The floors include microscope rooms, tissue cutlure rooms, offices, restrooms, lounges and conference space.
Phase IV provides fit-out of the Lower Level of the facility and includes expansion of the College's research facilities.
